Peter Chang Baltimore: Reviews & Ratings
I arrived to my hotel around 6PM and there were only few options for open restaurants close by (within a 5-minute walk). This seemed like the best one. I ordered the broccoli chicken and the honey BBQ bao (2 buns in an order). It was good, and the amount of food was just right. The food came out quickly.
Ma Po tofu was so good. (Gluten free and vegan, GF/VG) Kind of pricey but very nice. Do have to buy rice separately. Gluten free and vegan (gf/vg). Friends got bao and orange chicken. Latte took some time.
The beef and broccoli was delicious! My only complaint was that you have to pay extra for steamed rice. It definitely should come included in the meal, especially for the price ($20+ tax).
This time I tried their roast duck with rice. OMG it's the best roast duck, here in Baltimore. Better than at the Asian grocery store in Catonsville. There's a reason why Chef Peter Chang won a James Beard award. Chef Chang has nailed down his techniques with the roasting duck process. This isn't an easy process for an amazing roast duck. Chang's roast duck is juicy, tender with that crisp duck skin. The portion was very good for the price (literally two meals out of this dish). I'll do a splurge for the Peking duck. I'm sure this will be just as good if not better. Also recommend the following dishes that I've had in the past: Shrimp with walnut Stir fry dry beef wide noodles Overall, the food here is very good and pretty authentic too. Something hard to find in Baltimore, authentic Chinese food.
This is probably going to be one of my reoccurring favorite lunch spots! Everything was perfect, even parking wasn’t a challenge! The atmosphere was calm like a coffee shop, the music wasn’t too loud. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. My husband and I ordered the egg and scallion fried rice, Kung Pao Chicken, pork soup dumplings, Mongolian beef with scallions, BBQ Bao Buns, a hot yuzu citrus tea, and a passion fruit green tea All teas and drinks are made to order. I was able to customize my tea which I loved. I’m a Type I diabetic so when I go to restaurants I usually can only order a Diet Coke or water. I ordered this tea without sugar and added stevia. All of the food was delicious, fresh, and not too greasy!
While staying the evening in Baltimore I came here because I was in the mood for some authentic Szechuan food and I’m very familiar with Chef Peter Changs and his restaurants. The concept at this location is fast casual – You walk in, place your order at the counter, they give you a number and you sit down and they’ll bring your food to the table. The young girl taking orders was very friendly, helpful, and nice to talk to. Their menu is slightly different than Mama Changs or the Peter Changs full-service menu I’m used to. But I found some items that really appealed to me, including one of my favs, which is their Bamboo Fish. I also tried their sizzling mixed pepper chicken. Both dishes were tasty and perfectly prepared! Nice spice to both as well. The venue is small, but has plenty of tables… on the weeknight I went, they were pretty busy the entire time and most tables occupied. But that girl working the counter did a great job clearing tables and talking to customers in between taking orders. Highly recommend stopping in, especially if you like authentic Chinese eats!
My review might be different if I went for lunch instead of dinner, as it was relatively empty and some things interesting characters came in and wandered the restaurant while we were eating. First, and most importantly, the food was incredible. We ordered a bunch of dim sum, and a scallion and egg fried rice. Overall, we ordered the pork soup dumplings, shrimp shumai, crystal shrimp dumplings, beef pastry, gluttonous, rice, Chinese burger and the scallion and egg fried rice. The food was delicious, especially the shrimp shumai, the beef pastry, and the fried rice. The staff was friendly, but unattentive unless prompted by me, but it could’ve just been an awful night. Will definitely be back for the food, but likely for takeout

Unlike many buffet-style options, the portions are substantial and made to order, ensuring both freshness and satisfaction. The attentive service and consistent taste make it an outstanding choice for anyone seeking variety, quality, and abundance in one dining experience.
